Tai Chi –the Supreme Ultimate, can be described a
series of linked exercises performed slowly, gently and evenly from the beginning to the end, each posture unfolding with the same continuous rhythm, the Tai Chi Form. Although the moves are martial in origin, a series of punches, blocks, kicks and parries, with the combination of the breath they can be performed as a health exercise.
Philip has practiced Qigong and Taichi for20 years and is an Instructor with Tai Chi Union of Great Britain, British Council of Chinese Martial Arts and is a tutor member of the Tai Chi and Chi Kung Forum for Health. His main interest is the use of Qigong as a self healing and health maintenance system.
Physical classes have been suspended due to Covid 19 crisis. Classes are being held online. Qigong workshops are held across the Midlands. Details on www.qigongmidlands.com
Many people start attending a class only to find learning a Form or Set a very demanding task. Should they miss a class there is a tendency not to return, for fear of having been left behind. Others feel that they appear to never progress, since the class returns to the start of the Form each time new people join.
We focus on the teaching of short Qigong sets, which are easy to learn and remember and by regular practice, swiftly bring benefits to health, breathing and mobility.
A private session, frequency to suit, enables some people to progress in learning Qigong quicker than in a class situation. Others prefer the one to one (or one to two) environment that also allows us to focus on specific areas where energy is lacking or where there are imbalances to bring speedy results.
Private Sessions are flexible and as such remove the stress of trying to attend a regular class, especially when many people are time poor.
The exploration of qigong is recommended prior to undertaking tai chi training as it prepares the body with breathing exercises and co-ordination of movement and mindfulness.
